Time To Walk Away

Time to Walk Away From The Wolves

02/16/17

Introduction

Back in the 1970’s a Christian phenomenon known as the “Charismatic” movement began, and it spread through the Church like a wildfire. This main thrust of this movement had to do with bringing back the gifts of the Spirit, healing, and deliverance to the Church which actually had needed to be done for decades. In addition, many great teachers came forth teaching us how to walk in victory, how God wanted us to be set free, and that healing of our bodies was for today. However, over time this movement went from teaching that to teaching what is now known as the “Prosperity Gospel” which has come to known as the “Word of Faith” gospel. I would like you to please note that from what I say from this point forward can be easily verified if anyone wants to actually spend the time doing the research, and there are videos on the internet with all of these False Teachers, Preachers, Prophets, and Apostles teaching damnable heresy and false teachings in their own words.

The Word of Faith Doctrine

The “Word of Faith” (WoF) doctrine says that “Our Faith” is the “force” that will make God do whatever we want him to. This movement promises that we can obtain wealth, health, success, and anything else we want “IF” we have enough faith. This movement has gone by other names such as “positive confession and name it and claim it”, but the premise is the same. However, 99% of the people following this doctrine have NO idea where this doctrine came from but today you will know the truth about WoF but what you do with that truth is between you and God.

The History of the Word of Faith Doctrine

The WoF movement was founded by E.W. Kenyon in the early 1900’s who based his WoF false doctrine on the “New Thought” teachings of one Phineas Quimby and Mr. Kenyon was well known to be into such things as transcendentalism and new age teaching which are polar opposites from God and his Word. Since his basis of his doctrine was not based on the Word of God then how could his teachings be anything but false? An interesting point is that Quimby’s false teachings of the “mind” were also the basis by which Mary Bakker Eddy started the false religion of “Christian Science”. We know that Mr. Kenyon was going to the Emerson College of Oratory in Boston which was a breeding ground for the newly emerging “New Thought” Cult, and this “New Thought” cult claimed that they had discovered the “Laws of Faith” which led to a “Christianized” version of their cult teachings. These cultic and occultic teachings were used to create this “false doctrine”, and the WoF movement is indebted to the teachings of “New Thought” because “New Thought” is the root of the “Word of Faith” doctrine. Most Christians have NO clue that the “WoF” teaching can be traced directly to the metaphysical teachings of the “New Thought” cult movement which helped to start other so called “Christian” movements like the pseudo-Christian cults of Religious Science, Christian Science, and the Unity School of Christianity. Over 100 years before the WoF movement became what it is today Phineas Quimby (1802-1866) who is known as the father of “New Thought”, was promoting the notion that sickness and suffering ultimately had their origin in incorrect thinking.

The followers of Quimby claimed that man could make his own reality if he could control his mind and this reality could be produced by the power of “positive confessions”. One thing that is very interesting is that many practitioners of this “Metaphysical” type of teaching have been around for hundreds of years so this “Name it and Claim It” doctrine has been around for many centuries and it isn’t anything new like E.W. Kenyon claimed. We must remember that Satan was promoting it LONG before Quimby and Kenyon came and the roots of the “Word of Faith” doctrine are actually found in the occult teachings of New Age. While I know what the Bible says about faith I also know the scriptures that the WoF teachers and preachers have ripped out of context to make their doctrine “seem” legit but all they have done is pervert it to the point where it is nothing but heresy. Over the years the “WoF” proponents have tried to “sanitize” this teaching, but no matter how you shake it the teaching is still “New Age” based. Warren Felt Evans a writer for New Thought teaching said that “faith is the most intense form of mental action”. He went on to say while treating a patient that “the effect of the suggestion [or positive affirmation that the patient is well] is the result of the faith of the subject, for it is always proportioned to the degree in which the patient believes what you say”. Also, H. Emilie Cody (writer for the Charles and Myrtle Fillmore’s Unity School of Christianity) wrote that “our affirming, backed by faith, is the link that connects our conscious human need with His power and supply”. Cady also claimed that “There is power in our word of faith to bring all good things right into our everyday life”, and these statements indicate that the distinction between the mind of metaphysics and the “faith” of faith theology is nothing but a figment of the imagination. Do you see how easy it was to bring this trash into the Church? What they seemed to have forgotten is what Jesus taught for he said “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10) and what he prayed “…Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42). At the end of the day it doesn’t matter how much “faith” you think you have or how many “prayers of faith” you pray because God is GOD and his will shall always OVERRIDE our confession. I know this goes full bore against these wolves teaching and preaching, but as we go on I will prove they are not what they say they are.

Modern Day Word of Faith Personas

We can now see that there is NO DENYING that much of the WoF theology comes DIRECTLY from the teaching of metaphysics of Quimby and Kenyon. In addition, they can be traced to teachings of certain post WWII faith healers and preachers operating in “Pentecostal” circles. Sadly both Copeland and Hagin point to T.L. Osborn and William Branham as true men of God, but Osborn consistently followed Kenyon’s twisted doctrine and Branham was known for denouncing the doctrine of the “trinity” as a doctrine that came directly from Satan. Another proponent of Branham’s doctrine is Benny Hinn, and Hinn also endorsed a notorious huckster revivalist by the name of A.A. Allen who we will talk about in a few, and Hinn gravitated towards faith healers Aimee Semple McPherson and Kathryn Kuhlman. To understand the mechanics of this “Word of Faith” movement it is important to understand some of the people involved. Two famous faith healers (Robert Tilton and Marilyn Hickey) used many of the scams pioneered by Pentecostal leaders such as Oral Roberts and A.A. Allen to get money from their followers, however both Hickey and Tilton exceed their predecessors with the scams they pulled off. Many may not have heard of the antics of Oral Roberts, but he was the man that said God appeared to him and told him to build a “20 Story Cancer Research Tower” in Tulsa Oklahoma. After this he began to make an appeal to his partners telling them that this is not Oral Roberts asking for money but their Lord, however after the project was completed no cure for cancer was ever found. Since that time the building has been shut down and sold to investors for commercial development. In much the same way “A. A. Allen” scammed his followers by saying that he could make God turn “one dollar bills into twenty dollar bills”. Also Allen urged his followers to send for his “prayer rags anointed with the Miracle Oil” that he hawked along with his “Miracle Tent Shavings” as points of contact with his so-called “anointing”. Eventually Allen was kicked out of the Assemblies of God after he jumped bail for a DUI and in 1970 he died. According to a “news account” he died from sclerosis of the liver.

Truth Time

Now is a good time to ask this question, does God answer pray? Absolutely!! If two or more agree on anything it will be done for them? Absolutely!! Does God want to heal His people? YOU BET HE DOES! However, at the end of the day we must remember that God is GOD, and HE is going to do what HE wants for He is GOD! Let me ask another question, how many times have you heard these “faith preachers” teach about these verses in their “Name It and Claim It” sermons? The reason you don’t hear this is because it takes the focus off of them and puts it where it belongs, ON GOD! “From where do wars and fighting come from among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God” (James 4:1-4). It is interesting to watch what these “faith” wolves use God’s money on because it is always THINGS such as million dollar homes (that they call parsonages), fancy cars, million dollar jet(s), and one of them even has five jets and his own airport. One of the reasons that he uses to justify this is that there are too many “demons” on commercial flights (now that’s a man of faith!!). However, I have another explanation because the BIBLE says that “All that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” (1 John 2:16). I did an experiment to see what these “faith preachers” would do a couple of months ago and here are the results. I had car issues that were going to cost me my job so I reached out for a measly $5,000, and all I got back was “go in peace” or “we do not do this kind of thing” (I have the emails). In addition, when I reminded them of 1 John 3:17 “But whoso hath this world’s good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?” I never heard from them again.

One thing I know about truth is that there is no such thing as good truth or bad truth but just truth. I have also learned that truth can only bother us or upset us if the words people are saying have truth in them. So let’s look at some truth about these people. If you notice there are two common points that each of these false teachers have in common, which are they teach the doctrine of the WoF prosperity gospel and they claim to receive special revelation from God. If you look at some of the biggest cult leaders in history (Jim Jones, David Koresh, and even the notorious Charles Manson) you will see that they all have one thing in common; they all claimed to have special revelations from God. If you get nothing else out of this then get this, God will always confirm His Word independently of the person saying they are “Hearing from God”.

Now that you have seen the evidence it is time for you to decide if you are going to “Walk Away From These Wolves” or continue supporting them and giving God’s money to them…
